Delfin II

Comfort and style are the essence of your 3- or 4-night Delfin II cruise from Nauta along the Ucayali River, a gracious vessel with a relaxed ambience. Each day there are chances to explore the rainforest with an expert guide, walking, kayaking and boating, gaining a real insight into this precious habitat.

Relax as you cruise through the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve, watching the changing scenery and looking out for fresh-water dolphins in the river and other wildlife on the  banks. The main social areas are on the top deck, for the best views. Here you will find a large open air lounge and bar and an enclosed lecture room for regular talks and briefings by the guides. The dining room serving delectable Peruvian cuisine is on the upper deck. A small exercise room and massage room complete the communal areas. All suites have a picture window, sitting area and en-suite shower room.

Rainforest walks, motorboat rides, a night safari and kayaking form the core of your Amazon adventure, with the added bonus of visiting a village, whose inhabitants provide much of the food and artwork used on Delfin II, and several of whom are your rainforest guides. Finally, on your return by land from Nauta to Iquitos, you visit the manatee rescue centre where you can get up close and personal with these gentle endangered creatures.

Times to Go

The cruises operate all year, with two main seasons. If you like following walking trails there is more scope to do this in the low season, and if you prefer water-based activities high water season allows to you to access more areas by boat.

Luis the Llama likes this because…

“Delfin Amazon Cruises has always been committed to Amazon communities, keen to bring benefits to local people through small scale tourism. A women’s group has been formed to create art and craft works which are used to decorate the vessel and can be bought by passengers when the visit the village. Men are employed as rainforest guides on a rotating cycle to allow as many as possible to gain an income. Much of the food eaten on board is bought from local communities.  Local people and tourists gain benefits from cultural interaction.”

And don’t forget … for every booking we take, Peru Specialists (which is part of Tribes Travel) plants trees in deforested areas of South America and Africa through The Travel Forest, and we also back The Tribes Foundation’s conservation and social projects.
