El Balcón

This charming hotel sits in a terraced garden in a peaceful, elevated position in the heart of historic Cusco. It’s friendly and relaxing; a really welcoming place to stay, and the views from the balcony from which it takes its name are fantastic!

El Balcón is named after the wooden balcony that wraps round this early 17th century house and, as the hotel is perched high up above the city, you get amazing panoramic views of the Cusco rooftops and surrounding mountains if you sit out on the balcony to sip coca tea. At just 17 rooms, including 2 suites, it has a cosy, friendly feel, which is enhanced by the rustic furniture and regional décor in this historic building. Service is efficient and welcoming and staff go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

It’s in a great location a short walk from all the main attractions of Cusco and just a 20-minute walk from the archaeological site of Sacsayhuaman. Enjoy a tasty home-made breakfast buffet with eggs and pancakes to order, then explore the city before returning to your peaceful retreat to settle down for the night. The small garden has Inca terraces and stonework and is a relaxing place to sit.

Times to Go

Cusco can be visited at any time of year but most people tend to avoid December to March, which is the wettest part of the rainy season.
