Palacio Manco Capac

Palacio Manco Capac is set on a hillside backed by eucalyptus trees with fabulous views over the city.  With just 22 rooms, it’s a haven away from the hustle and bustle of town, yet within walking distance of Plaza de Armas and Sacsayhuaman. Steeped in Inca history, it’s a bit of a gem!

If you want to stay somewhere off the beaten track in Cusco, then this delightful, intimate hotel could tick your boxes. The hotel, a colonial manor house built on the foundations of Manco Capac’s original palace, has just 3 individually furnished garden view rooms, 2 suites which overlook an ancient Inca platform and 7 deluxe garden or city view rooms. The adjoining Casa Lomellini has another 3 garden rooms, 6 junior suites and 1 master suite.

The lounge/dining room has an open fireplace which keeps it cosy while you enjoy a Pisco Sour before dining on beautifully crafted Peruvian cuisine prepared with fresh, organic ingredients. The pretty courtyard patio and gardens are a pleasant place to while away a little time, soaking up the atmosphere, and enjoying the peace and quiet that seems to envelop the hotel. The resident alpaca is friendly and adds to the charm.

Though you may feel a million miles away from the city, you’re just a 10-minute or so walk uphill from many of Cusco’s attractions, including the main square, the Plaza de Armas, so it’s easy to explore the city and then return to your tranquil haven to unwind. The night time view overlooking the city lights is glorious.

Times to Go

Cusco is a year-round destination, however the region experiences two seasons, rainy and dry. The best time to visit would naturally be the dry season so you are looking at April through to October. The rains typically begin in November and last through to March, January and February receive the most rainfall.

Palacio Manco Capac rooms

Main House – Garden Rooms
The three garden rooms (24 sq m) are thoughtfully furnished in keeping with the style and history of the hotel. The rooms are light and bright with polished wooden floors and white bedlinen. Though period décor is prevalent throughout, there is also a nod to modern day with each room having a flat screen TV and Wi-Fi. Rooms open out onto the pretty gardens where you may come across an alpaca going about its business.

There are two suites, which both look out onto an ancient Inca Platform: the Balcony Suite at 33 sq m and the Manco Capac Suite at 35 sq m. Intricately-carved wooden furniture and doors add a period feel. Bathrobes and slippers are provided along with organic toiletries.

The annex features seven rooms of 22 sq m. While these also have Wi-Fi and a TV, they are simpler and smaller than the rooms in the main residence.

Casa Lomellini
This consists of three garden rooms, six junior suites and a master suite
