Quinta San Blas

On a cobbled street in the arty San Blas district, this colonial mansion is now an intimate boutique hotel. Inside, the simple, contemporary décor inspires an atmosphere of calm and relaxation. Step outside and you’re just a short distance from the artisans and restaurants of San Blas, and within walking distance of the main attractions of Cusco.

Just three blocks from Cusco’s Plaza de Armas, this historic house has been beautifully restored and decorated in clean-lined contemporary style, with polished wooden floors, high, exposed roof beams, bright blue external woodwork and stark white walls and bedlinens. It sits on an ancient cobbled street lined with buildings of a similar age, and, with just 20 rooms on three floors set around its small central courtyard, it’s a charming and intimate base for a stay in Cusco. A number of the rooms have no windows to the outside world, looking out instead onto the covered landing overlooking the courtyard, which gives access to all the rooms on each floor so, while the bright, light décor does much to offset that, it may not be the ideal choice for claustrophobics.

The hotel has a café/deli serving a buffet breakfast and light meals, pastries etc (also available to takeaway) and guests can also eat in the courtyard. There are plenty of restaurants around San Blas and in the main part of Cusco, so you won’t be short of places to eat.

The hotel staff can help arrange tours etc. and, whether you want to explore the artisan studios of the district or walk south on the Inca road Hathunrumiyoc towards the Plaza de Armas, there is lots to see and do here. San Blas also has the San Cristóbal cathedral, plus the oldest parish church in Cusco, the diminutive Iglesia San Blas.
