Sol y Luna

Take in the beautiful scenery, history and culture of the Sacred Valley of the Incas from this gorgeous family-owned Relais & Chateaux resort, whose design reflects that of local Andean villages, with more than a touch of luxury.

Stay in a charming stone, timber and adobe casita, whose design is inspired by Andean dwellings, and admire the breathtaking views of the Sacred Valley and mountains from your private terrace, as you ponder the choice of activities.

These include hiking, biking, horse riding, kayaking and even paragliding, as well as demonstrations of traditional skills such as weaving and pottery making, and visits to local archaeological sites. Sol y Luna proudly showcases Andean heritage and culture not only through these activities but also through its cuisine, with the restaurant, Killa Wasi, specialising in Andean and Peruvian cuisine created using ingredients sourced from local farms. When you want a break from exploring, make yourself at home by the pool, indulge in spa treatments and stroll in the gardens watching hummingbirds.

Don’t miss the paso fino horse show at the more casual restaurant in the ranch. Being a family-owned property has allowed the hotel to develop its individual character, enhanced by colourful local artworks, murals and friezes and the style, quality and service have led it to become a member of the prized Relais & Chateaux group.

Luis the Llama likes this because…

“The owners of Sol y Luna, Petit and Franz, originally established the lodge to support local education projects and create employment for local people. Subsequently they set up the Sol y Luna Intercultural School so that local children who had previously had to walk the long distance to the nearest school or simply did not attend, now have easy access to education.”

And don’t forget … for every booking we take, Peru Specialists (which is part of Tribes Travel) plants trees in deforested areas of South America and Africa through The Travel Forest, and we also back The Tribes Foundation’s conservation and social projects.
